Event Description
1. Entries in the Homemakers’ Division are for ages 18 years old and above.
2. All entries will be checked in on Thursday, September 7th from 8:00 a.m. – noon.
3. Check in procedures will be posted at barn.
4. Articles that have previously won blue ribbons at the Edmonson County fair cannot be exhibited again.
5. Entries must be made by the exhibitor and entered in the name of that person only.
6. Only one article per person in each category.
7. The entire cake, pie, or loaf of bread must be brought for entry.
8. All foods must be on a paper/Styrofoam plate and in a plastic zippered bag. With the exception
of cakes, loaf breads and pies, they MUST be brought in whole and the foods department workers will cut for judging. For sanitation reasons all food will be thrown away.
9. Canned fruits and vegetables must be in standard canning jars and two-piece sealed lids must be used.
10. Art must be framed or matted ready for hanging. The hanger must support the weight of the entry.
11. Photography must be matted on a firm
mat. Matting prior to registration is required. Non-matted items will not be accepted. No framed photos will be accepted.
12. Category chairmen and workers will group items for judging.
13. Ribbons/money will be awarded at
judge’s discretion and all judging decisions are final.
14. Judging will be the American System.
(Exhibits in this system are compared against a standard of perfection, as well as against the other entries in the competition. All exhibits in a particular class are looked at and ranked with only one selected for first
15. Blue ribbons will receive $3, Red ribbons $2, and White ribbons $1. Best of Show will receive$5, Garden Display 1st place will receive
$10, and Grand Champion (overall) will receive$10.
16. Person who receives the “Most Blue Ribbons” will receive a gift certificate for $25.
17. Person who has the “Most Entries” in the exhibit barn will receive a gift certificate for $25.
18. Exhibit Barn Hours:
a. Closed until 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
b. Open: Thursday 6:00 p.m. –
9:00 p.m.
c. Friday 11:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.
d. Friday 6:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m.
19. Edmonson County Homemakers will supervise the display barn during all open hours.
20. All reasonable precautions are taken to protect fair exhibits; however, the fair
board/homemakers are not responsible for the loss or damage to any item entered.
21. Entries & prize money must be picked up on Saturday, from 8:00 a.m. – 10:00 a.m.
22. Prize money & entries not picked up on Saturday by 10:00 a.m. become property of the fair board.
